Black Widow is the first entry in the series since the apparent finale, “Avengers: Endgame,” in April, this stand-alone spinoff flashes back to the events following the 2016 film “Captain America: Civil War.” “Black Widow,” directed by Cate Shortland, hits theaters on May 1. Speaking about the film, Johansson said that the film packs “a big punch” and that it’s been “liberating in a way” to act as executive producer for the first time for a Marvel film. “I feel like I’m in control of the destiny of this film, which gives me a lot more peace of mind,” she said.
