Scarlett Johansson Go on Black Widow

Image
Black Widow is the first entry in the series since the apparent finale, “Avengers: Endgame,” in April, this stand-alone spinoff flashes back to the events following the 2016 film “Captain America: Civil War.” “Black Widow,” directed by Cate Shortland, hits theaters on May 1. Speaking about the film, Johansson said that the film packs “a big punch” and that it’s been “liberating in a way” to act as executive producer for the first time for a Marvel film. “I feel like I’m in control of the destiny of this film, which gives me a lot more peace of mind,” she said. Johansson’s character, Natasha Romanoff, has been separated from her Avengers cohorts, although we see glimpses of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner). She returns to her native Russia and reunites with her makeshift former family after engaging in some hand-to-hand combat with her “sister,” Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh). Along with the parental figures Red Guardian (David Harbour) and Iron Maiden (R

Mom and pop retailers gear up for Small Business

Saturday, a day used to promote mom-and-pop retailers, and many towns are doing their best to support the effort. Back in 2018, an estimated 104 million consumers shopped at independent retailers and restaurants on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. They spent $17.8 billion, the most since the shopping event was created by American Express in 2010 to help drum up business in the wake of the Great Recession. Kathi Petrocelli opened The Olive Tap in 2006, right before that economic downturn started. The shop, which sells olive oil, balsamic vinegars and gourmet foods, is one of 49 small businesses in downtown Long Grove, Illinois. On Small Business Saturday, the store will usually see a few hundred customers more than it would on a regular holiday season day, she said. The town works with the American Express Small Business Saturday campaign to promote the event, and individual retailers like The Olive Tap promote it on their social media accounts and flyers. “Our village prides itself

Kid Rock says Fuck Oprah Winfrey

Image
Kid Rock has attacked Oprah Winfrey in an onstage rant where he told the talk show host that she can “suck dick sideways.” The ‘Cowboy’ singer went on a lengthy rant onstage at his own Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse in Nashville last week. Last year, the rocker was removed from a Christmas parade after calling Joy Behar a bitch on live television. “I’m not a bad guy. I’m just an honest guy that says, ‘Hey, I don’t like Oprah Winfrey or Joy Behar. They can suck dick sideways.’ Sorry mom,” Rock begins his rant. “The ‘Hey, you’re fuckin’ racist,’ I’m like, ‘You’re fuckin’ weird.’ And, ‘You call your people, I’ll call mine.’ Like, what? This is fuckin’ weird, right? Fuck Oprah Winfrey! Fuck Kathie Gifford!” He continues: “I’m 48 and I’m the guy that you want to be like ‘Hey, I want Kid Rock on my side!’ I’m not the bad guy in the equation. I’m the fuckin’ guy you want, like, ‘Hey, he’s pretty cool.’ Oprah Winfrey is like, ‘Hey, I’m gonna get some white women to

Duke's Season of Bad Luck

Mike Krzyzewski the legendary Duke coach boasts a 150-game win streak in Cameron Indoor Stadium against non-conference opponents dating back to 2000, the longest in the NCAA. Duke fell to Stephen F. Austin 85-83 on Tuesday night after Lumberjacks forward Nathan Bain sunk a buzzer-beating layup in overtime, shocking the Blue Devils. Stephen F. Austin rallied back from an early first-half hole to tie the game by the under-8 timeout in the second half. Duke guard Cassius Stanley, after bouncing back and forth in the final eight minutes, had a chance to end the game in regulation. His off-balanced shot at the buzzer, however, was off the mark. The overtime period wasn’t any better for Duke offensively. The Blue Devils started out with four turnovers and put up just three shots in the first four minutes, allowing the Lumberjacks to stick right with them. With just seven seconds left on the clock, Duke guard Tre Jones attempted to feed the ball inside to get one final shot. The pas

For the first time since January 5, 1983, Duke's basketball team lost a home game to an unranked non-Power Conference foe. Stephen F. Austin's Nathan Bain converted a layup at the overtime buzzer to stun No. 1 Duke 85-83 Tuesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium. College basketball is madness this season. Duke became the third No. 1 team to lose this season, seeing its 150-game non conference home winning streak snapped by Stephen F. Austin senior forward Nathan Bain's coast-to-coast layup at the overtime buzzer. The Blue Devils entered the game as 27.5-point favorites, making the Lumberjacks' win the biggest Division I upset of the past 15 seasons. Duke took a 15-point first-half lead, but SFA which had just lost to Rutgers and finished below 500 last season came all the way back in the second half to take the lead in the final minutes. The game went into OT when Duke's Cassius Stanley missed a contested midrange jumper at the buzzer. Tre Jones penetrated a
